Bob Lindquist of Qupe, is best known for making cool-climate syrah from some of the best vineyards in California including the famed Bien Nacido Vineyards. This vineyard, situated in the Santa Maria Valley, is also home to his production facility that he shares with long-time friend Jim Clendenen of Au Bon Climat.
Insider tip: The Qupe and Au Bon Climat production facility is not open to the public (though each winery has its own off-site tasting room. Find the Qupe tasting room in Los Olivos and Au Bon Climat in downtown Santa Barbara.) However twice a year, including the Celebration of Harvest Weekend, both friends host a joint open house on the Sunday after the Festival. Special wines are opened, Jim cooks an amazing lunch, and a fantastic time is had.
On Wednesday Bob shared a few photos (as captured by Theo, his 14 year old son) from this year's first day of harvest, his 33rd under the Qupe label.
